Instructions for use

How to insert your tampon

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly.
  2. If necessary, remove a tampon that has already been inserted. Yes, in the rush of everyday life, it happens that women forget this. Please dispose of the tampon in the household waste and not in the toilet.
  3. Remove the protective wrapper from the new tampon. Please do not throw it in the toilet, but in the household waste.
  4. Now pull on the withdrawal string and hold it firmly.
  5. Place your index finger on the flat end of the tampon.
  6. Now push the tampon at an angle towards the back and upwards into your vagina.
  7. Once you can no longer feel the tampon, it is in the right place. If you still feel it when moving, for example, push it in a little deeper.
  8. The withdrawal string is still visible? Perfect!
  9. Wash your hands thoroughly and dispose of the used tampon and the protective wrapper correctly.

How to remove your tampon

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly.
  2. Pull on the withdrawal string and please dispose of the tampon in the household waste and not in the toilet.
  3. If you feel resistance when removing the tampon, it is probably not full enough. Use a tampon with lower absorbency next time.
  4. Sometimes you might not find the withdrawal string immediately. Just stay calm. Squat down, press on the tampon, grasp it with two fingers, and pull it out gently.
  5. If you cannot remove the tampon yourself, please go to a gynecologist immediately. Also read the information on toxic shock syndrome (TSS).

How often should you change your tampon

When your flow is heaviest, it is best to change the tampon every 3-4 hours. Only ever use one tampon at a time. Choose the smallest possible size.

You can safely use MinaDays tampons with CBD oil several times in a row throughout your entire period.

When your period tapers off or at night, the tampon can sometimes be left in for longer. But please not longer than 6-8 hours. Also read the information on toxic shock syndrome (TSS).

Product safety

Toxic shock syndrome (TSS)

Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) is rare, but it is a serious and sometimes life-threatening illness. It can affect women, men, and children. The disease is triggered by toxins from certain bacteria that naturally occur on our skin and in our environment.

Particular caution is required during menstruation: about half of all TSS cases occur in women and girls during menstruation. Although the syndrome is often associated with the use of tampons, it can also occur without them during menstruation.

Watch for the symptoms of TSS, which can occur suddenly during or shortly after your period. These include sudden high fever (39°C or more), skin rash, vomiting, diarrhea, sore throat, dizziness, or fainting spells. If you notice these symptoms, remove the tampon immediately and seek medical attention without delay. Inform the doctor about the symptoms and mention that you are having your period.

After a TSS diagnosis, it is important to talk to your doctor about future use of tampons and possibly consider safer alternatives.

Further precautions, such as using tampons with the lowest required absorbency and changing them regularly every 4-8 hours, can reduce the risk of TSS.

We want to support you safely and informatively through your menstrual cycles. For further information and support, please contact your healthcare professional. Or check our website for further links and resources. Take good care of yourself!

Side effects and interactions of CBD oil

As with any active ingredient, it is important to be aware of potential side effects and interactions with other medications. Below we provide you with an overview:

Side effects of CBD oil

When using CBD oil in tampons, the following side effects may occur in case of overdose:

  • Headaches: Occasionally, mild to moderate headaches may occur.
  • Slight drop in blood pressure: A slight drop in blood pressure is possible.
  • Mild drowsiness: Tiredness or grogginess may occur. There is no impairment when driving vehicles or operating machinery.
  • Dizziness: Some consumers report mild dizziness.

CBD has no potential for abuse and is not physically addictive.

Interactions with other medicinal products

CBD can affect the action of certain medications. Be careful if you are taking one or more of these medications:

  • Opioids
  • Beta-blockers
  • Warfarin
  • Diazepam
  • Venlafaxine
  • Citalopram

CBD can increase the blood levels of these medications, which can lead to increased effects or side effects.

Special caution is required with tamoxifen, as CBD can lower the levels of this medication!

The myth of the hymen

The so-called "hymen" is actually a soft ring of tissue at the entrance of the vagina. It is not a closed membrane as was previously believed. This ring of tissue is naturally open, so the use of tampons has no influence on its structure. You can therefore safely use tampons, as they do not damage the tissue ring when used correctly.

Summary and recommendations

If you use tampons that contain CBD oil, please be aware of the possible side effects. Especially if you are prone to overdosing. Do you take one or more of the aforementioned medications regularly? Then please contact your doctor before using CBD tampons to discuss potential interactions.

Listen to your body and seek medical advice for any unusual symptoms. With the right caution, tampons with CBD oil can be a safe and effective addition to your menstrual hygiene.
